SureSmile® Clear Aligners

Do you want to straighten your crooked teeth but don't want the hassle of traditional metal braces? Whether you’ve never had treatment or wore braces as a child and your teeth have relapsed, clear aligners may be the perfect solution.

Similar to Invisalign®, SureSmile® aligners at Whitehouse Family Dental are a virtually invisible alternative to metal braces. Most people won’t notice them as they gradually shift teeth into proper alignment.

What SureSmile Can Correct

SureSmile is an effective orthodontic treatment that addresses many of the same issues as traditional braces:

  • Crowded or overlapped teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbites and underbites
  • Crossbites
  • Open bites

During your consultation, our dentists evaluate whether SureSmile suits your needs. While most alignment issues can be treated with clear aligners, particularly complex cases may benefit from different approaches.

The SureSmile Aligner Advantage

Many adults who thought braces were their only option are delighted to discover the convenience and benefits of clear aligner therapy.
Virtually Invisible
SureSmile aligners are crystal clear and fit snugly against your teeth, making them nearly undetectable to others. You don't have to feel self-conscious about brackets and wires and can smile confidently throughout treatment.
Comfortable Treatment
Without brackets and wires to irritate cheeks and gums, SureSmile® offers a significantly more comfortable experience. The smooth plastic aligners won't cause soreness or discomfort, often associated with traditional braces.
Fewer Office Visits
SureSmile treatment typically requires fewer check-in appointments than traditional braces. You'll receive multiple sets of aligners at once, reducing the number of office visits needed while still achieving excellent results.
Removable Convenience
Unlike fixed braces, clear aligners are removable for eating, drinking, and oral hygiene. This means no food restrictions and no special cleaning tools—just pop them out, enjoy your meal, clean your teeth as usual, and pop them back in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Proper care of your SureSmile® aligners maintains their clarity, prevents odors, and ensures treatment progresses as planned. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your aligners in optimal condition:

Caring for SureSmile Clear Aligners

Clear Aligner Cleaning Routine

Clean your aligners each morning and evening when you brush your teeth. Use a soft toothbrush with clear, unscented soap and lukewarm water. Gently brush all surfaces, rinse thoroughly, and shake off excess water before reinserting or storing them.

Avoid these common mistakes:

  • Never use hot water, which can warp the plastic and alter the precise fit.
  • Skip colored or scented soaps that might stain or leave residue.
  • Don't use toothpaste with abrasives that can scratch aligners.
  • Avoid mouthwash for cleaning, as it may discolor the plastic.

When Not Wearing Your Aligners

Always store your aligners in their protective case when not in use. Never wrap them in a napkin or tissue—this is the most common way they get accidentally thrown away! Rinse your aligners before returning them to your mouth after meals.

Weekly Deep Cleaning

Once a week, use SureSmile cleaning crystals or denture cleaning tablets for a deeper clean. Soak for about 15 minutes, then brush and rinse thoroughly.

Preventing Stains and Odors

  • Remove aligners before consuming anything except plain water.
  • Brush and floss your teeth before reinserting aligners.
  • Avoid smoking or vaping while wearing your aligners.

With proper care, your SureSmile aligners will remain virtually invisible throughout your treatment. If you have questions about aligner care, call Whitehouse Family Dental at (419) 877-5404.

Living with Your Clear Aligners

For best results, wear your aligners 20–22 hours daily. Remove them only for brushing and flossing, eating, and drinking anything other than water. After eating, be sure to brush your teeth and rinse the aligners to avoid food particles getting trapped beneath them.

You'll switch out your aligners for the next set every two weeks or as prescribed by our dentists. After a brief adjustment period, many patients find that clear aligners fit easily into their daily routine.

SureSmile® Clear Aligners Technology

Panoramic X-Rays

With one quick, comfortable scan, our panoramic x-rays capture your entire mouth in a single image. This invaluable technology helps us evaluate wisdom teeth, plan orthodontic treatment, and detect problems that might not be visible during a regular exam. Because these x-rays are taken outside the mouth, they are especially helpful for children, those with a strong gag reflex, or patients with special needs.
